My name is Maria Edenbrandt, I am 25 years old and from Sweden.
I am currently in my fifth year of study of architecture at Chalmers
University of Technology in Sweden. In autumn 2012 I completed
my Master thesis in which I presented my design for a hospice. I'm currently doing an internship at Sweco Architects in Sweden.
I see myself as a creative, social and ambitious person with a great interest in art and architecture. I am curious and energetic and I enjoy creative work, so architecture suits me perfectly.
In the academic year 2011/2012 I had the opportunity to study my fourth year at the National University of Singapore (NUS). It was important for me to get a new perspective in my studies and to experience another kind of architecture. Studying in Singapore was very rewarding and I learned to understand other lifestyles and cultures and adapt my design to these new conditions.
In one of the modules during this year, I worked with a group of students with whom I designed dwellings on the Indonesian island Batam, south of Singapore. After the module ended, my group was selected to continue working with the project together with professors from both NUS and die Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zurich. The project later became one of the exhibitions at the International Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam from April to August 2012.
